2021-2022 NMDC Ambassadors
Jaclyn Saunders @NEtoPacNW Dr. Jaclyn (Jaci) Saunders is a Postdoctoral Investigator working at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in the Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry Department in Mak Saito’s lab and with the Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO). She is an oceanographer and astrobiologist interested in understanding the inextricable links between marine microbes and global biogeochemical cycles in the modern ocean, ancient anoxic oceans, and the potential microbial interactions on exoplanetary oceans. She uses meta-omics techniques (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metaproteomics), analytical chemistry, and informatics to investigate how marine Bacteria and Archaea interact with the cycling of arsenic, phosphorus, and nitrogen in the ocean. I’m looking forward to networking with other people who are working at the interface of microbiology and data analytics, and helping elevate the visibility of metaproteomics in the omics informatics space. www.jaclynsaunders.com |
