2021-2022 NMDC Ambassadors

Dr. Arwa Abbas is a postdoctoral researcher at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, investigating the role of polymicrobial interactions in the mammalian gut during Clostridioides difficile infection. Previously, as a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, she investigated the role of the human lung viral microbiome in health and disease and “accidentally” co-discovered a new family of eukaryotic viruses. Dr. Abbas loves figuring out ways to communicate science in engaging ways to people of all backgrounds, especially kids!

I am most looking forward to hearing about the exciting findings and challenges to overcome by other microbiologists working in vastly different fields from mine.
